Returns and refunds

Each copy is made for your order, so a returned book has no shelf to go back on. That does not make the problem yours.

• Damaged, misprinted or misbound: send a photograph within 30 days and a replacement goes out at no cost. Keep the faulty copy or bin it; posting it back costs more than replacing it.
• Wrong book, or it never arrived: replacement or full refund, your choice.
• Changed your mind: tell us within two hours and the order is cancelled and refunded in full, because it will not have gone to the press yet. After that the book exists and the refund is half, which is roughly what making it and posting it cost.
• UK and EU buyers keep their statutory cancellation rights, which are wider than the paragraph above. Ask and they apply.

Privacy

This site has no accounts, no tracking pixels, no advertising network and no analytics that follow you anywhere else. The basket lives in your own browser and is never sent anywhere until you press checkout.

At checkout, Stripe takes the payment and your card details never reach this site. Your name and postal address go to the printer so it can make the book and post it to you, and to nobody else. There is no mailing list to be added to.

Why there are no lyrics

Song lyrics are copyrighted expression and licensing them is negotiated per song, per publisher and per territory. The US Copyright Office states that there is no safe quantity — no number of words, lines or pages that is automatically fair use — and it names song lyrics as the hard case. Across thirty-one volumes, per-quotation judgement is not a production step; it is a legal department.

So the rule is zero, series-wide, and it is checked by a program against every manuscript, every EPUB and every narration script before a volume ships. Song and record titles are not lyrics and are used freely. Covers carry no album art, no photographs, no faces and no branded products, and neither do the illustrations on this site.

Who writes them

A house byline, not a person. The desk explains the method in full, including how living people and contested claims are handled, and what the byline does and does not claim.
